Life begins and ends with the same challenges

15 October 2009

I have just booked a ticket to Dusseldorf. I will go there tomorrow, to visit the REHACARE Trade Fair (www.rehacare.com ), which is in full swing already. It’s a playground for everyone providing solutions for making life of elderly and handicapped persons a little bit easier. Someone thought: would not the MummyMug also be handy for elderly?

833820_handsCecilia, should you not go and check out what this market could mean for you? Interestingly enough, the person who gave me the idea to go makes really cool no spill cups for kids, and is now also considering offering them to elderly people as well. And of course: life begins and ends with the same challenges. With being more vulnerable to spillages for example, and to scalding burns from hot beverages. Small kids have thin skin, elderly have dry and rimpled… both end up with bad burns even at relatively low temperatures. So, said and done! Dusseldorf, here I come. Who knows, perhaps this trip will inspire me to develop a sister product to the MummMug.

Old people like humour. There’s some wine in England that sells because of its labels The Old Git (red) and The Old Trout (white).

How about the Codger Cup, or the WrinklyMug?

Dad is blind and would perhaps like one that beeps at him when he’s looking for it, perhaps triggered from a remote that can be hung around neck or worn as a pin?

Thanks Marianne!! good ideas. WrinklyMug is fun !! I need to think about the remote idea, as useful as it would be that would be a challenging product to develop. But, as you point out, useful if we would manage! thanks for all your comments, please keep on writing !! Cecilia
